Autumn Inspiration + Bedroom Progress

Last weekend, we took a trip to the mountains with our friends Jess, Agke and Thurston. They showed us the perfect picnic spot on Mt. Baldy, the highest peak in the San Gabriel mountain range. Sometimes, I forget how lucky I was to have lived a stone’s throw away from this great mountain. Now, the 50 minute drive to the mountain on the weekends comes as a welcome respite.

I soaked in the gully of birch trees.

The leaves on the trees were just starting to change and the air was crisp and cool. I got so inspired to paint and finish an outdoorsy drawing, which I will add to my shop this week.

Next, I was hunting for florals for my client’s bedrroom, I came across beautiful purples and a fiery autumn orange.

Rolling Greens in Los Angeles, is simply my favorite place within the city to gather beautiful florals, real and silk. For the bedroom. we have decided on the faux variety….dirt and bugs in the bedroom, no thank you!

I liked the way they arranged the succelents that I picked out for this planter, the visual texture is looks great next to the window seat.

The bedroom is almost there and we are so proud! We will soon replace the silver lamps with bronze sconces and picture lighting and drumroll…a rococo chandelier. We went with the light nightstands as voted for by many of you. You can find out more about the evolution of the design here.

Again, your comments mean so much to me and I just love hearing about what projects are on the horizon for you. I will leave you a with a gorgeous shot of Santa Monica Beach sunset. I’m just luvin’ the purple and orange hues.

Restoration Bedroom Design

Here is a glimpse at a bedroom refresh that I am working on. First, we switched out the headboard and updated the bedding, but we weren’t ready to stop there… Although, we started out with the idea to do a quick update, the design has evolved to include new sconces, a chandelier, custom art, pillows and new bedside tables. I can’t wait for you to see the final pictures of the restyle! Here are the original bedside sconces we were considering…Can you guess which sconce we went crazy for??

Ok, I will tell you…the last one, bottom right;) You may remember the original mood board, well…here is the newest product board, which combination of lighting and nightstands, do you like best? A or B?

Ivonne’s Cozy Living Space

I loved working on Ivonne’s place because of the simple lines of the architecture and the freshness of her home.

Working with white, creams, and a neutral palette was an elegant concept for a modern cozy space.

The dining room is ever more formal with a Robert Abbey oil rubbed bronze chandelier. Bronze finials, drapery rods, harware and locksets complete the look on crisp white moldings and trim.

I loved these cozy taupe and gray pillows made of soft cotton mixed with a rich fur throw. The leather ottoman pictured below adds another layer of unexpected warmth to the living space.

It is hard to imagine that we have been working on her place since July because it all has gone by so quickly. From the beginnings, replacing the existing lighting with recessed, adding entryway lights, and a new coat of paint.

Most times, my favorite thing to change in an interior to make a dramatic impace can be lighting and simply a new coat of paint. Thankfully, Ivonne had recently had a sun light added to the living space, which only accentuated our recessed lighting upgrade.

Other details, like our favorite chair recovered and painted, transformed the entryway. The woven basket which doubles as storage for umbrellas add charm to the vignette.

Lucky of us Ivonne already had great art and a beautiful mirror for the dining space. All we needed to add was a midcentury walnut floating frame to truly accent the painting.

Never fear, if you are interested in her place and want to see more. We still have photo gallery wall and tufted bench in the works!

Ivonne’s Living and Dining Space

I am in the midst of designing  both living and dining spaces in a wonderful home with European charm.  It has been a super fun project with a client who happens to be a designer herself. She designs amazing jewelry and accessories, so it is great to collaborate on the look and feel of her two distinct, yet related rooms.

Below is a preliminary view of the furniture plan and products that we are choosing. It will include neutral fabrics layered with artwork and softly hued pillows. Plus, a leather ottoman will add texture and comfort to the center of the space.

The new recessed lighting that we installed along with the white slipcovered sofas really brightened up the place…which brings me to the Product Board for the adjacent dining room which reflects the classical elegance and charm of the Mediteranean architecture of the home. I am calling this style Italian Transitional because it filled with rich yet comfortable details, simple fabrics, and old world finishes.

I can’t wait to show you the results once this beautiful transformation has taken place. I look forward to bringing you inside the process with more pics of Ivonne’s Living and Dining spaces as we create.
