DIY Ombre trend: 3 favorite ombre furniture pieces

The ombre furniture trend is something that I have covered here in the past. I have been commissioned to paint a number of pieces in ombre. Everything from dressers to vintage desks can have potential. I look for pieces in good vintage condition that have more than 4 drawers. I like this look for guest rooms and kids spaces, anywhere you want that statement piece or pop of color.

Today, I would like to share with you my 3 favorite ombre furniture pieces that I have painted over the years. As I experimented with this technique, 2 dressers and 1 nightstand ended up being my favorites.

Ombre Dresser in Guava

For the dresser below, I used the color Guava by Benjamin Moore. For the full tutorial, please see all the steps here.

Ombre Nightstand in Blue Lagoon

Later, I resurfaced an ombre nightstand and it came out wonderfully. As you know, I love all shades of turquoise and blue. This project took an afternoon, maybe 2-3 hours, and was an easy way to update an older wooden piece.

For this nightstand tutorial, please see the full directions here.

Modern Dresser in Naples Blue

Additionally, I used a similar palette from Benjamin Moore to update this modern dresser with ombre paint. It sold right away! For this modern dresser painted below, I went one shade darker by painting the bottom drawer Naples Blue by Benjamin Moore.

Here is a guide to the paint names for the drawer colors listed below:

  • Drawer #1: Peacock Blue + Simply White by BM
  • Drawer #2: Peacock Blue by BM
  • Drawer #3: Naples Blue + Simply White by BM
  • Drawer #4: Naples Blue by BM

Are you considering updating a piece that you currently own with paint? Some of my favorite ombre combinations include, grays, blues and corals shades. I also love this serape ombre that I pinned to my ombre inspiration board here!

If you try this at home, I would love to hear about your project and the outcome. Please share your thoughts and comments below.
