Fine Art Friday: Owls n’ Animals

It’s Fine Art Friday again and this time I’ve finished an Owl painting turned Owlentine (Owl painting + Valentine..hehe) You can buy them in packs of 3. All are a combination print on watercolor paper with hand painted washes and detailing. They come in a crystal clear bag to be collected or traded as a small art pieces. They fit photo frames perfectly. Larger prints are available if you contact me  at hilary.hahn@pinkpianos.com.

I paid a visit to my friend Michelle’s place yesterday. She does beautiful illustrations and paintings. This is one of the pieces that I had the pleasure of seeing.

I am especially drawn to the colors and playfulness of the piece. I can picture both of our artworks in a children’s play area or nursery.

Another reason I can’t wait for Monday (when do I ever say that?) is because I will be sharing a home tour of Michelle’s carefully curated space. Then, you will get to see plenty more art pieces by Michelle whose mom is also a painter. I am having so much fun editing her home pictures today because everything is so modern and pretty.

Any great plans or gallery openings that I should see this weekend in LA? Please inspire me to get out of the house:)

See you on Monday! xx

Fine Art Friday

Fine art hopefully finds it’s way into every influential interior design.

This is a quick study using ink and watercolors. I felt the urge to experiment with ink through movement and a bit of abstraction.

Wishing you a fun and carefree weekend ahead!

Lourdes Sanchez: Watercolor Inspiration

You may be wondering where I have been, (lately I am reading more). I have some book recommendations, if you are looking for pure fiction!

I am working on a wood panel artwork for an art benefit December 10th. The event called 11 x 11 is a fundraiser for the arts and is created by Michelle Berc of CreateFixate.

These inky watercolors by Lourdes Sanchez have been right up my alley. Watercolor is a medium that never fails to appeal to me. There is something about it’s aqueous quality that I just love.

I have abundant projects and ideas I hope to materialize over the following months, some involving watercolor.

Which one is your fave?

Butterfly Art

It’s been quite a busy week, but there is a new print in my shop!

And I couldn’t resist sharing a link to the glowhouses, that I made at Edy’s bridal shower. They will be the centerpieces for her upcoming wedding. All the ladies had a beautiful day sculpting these, and I can’t wait to see the finished product once it is glazed and kiln fired.

Watercolor gift tags

Last weekend, I attended my friend, Edy’s amazing bridal shower and a new idea came to me!

While getting ready…I realized I had yet to create a card for the gift. I have hundreds of gray tags leftover from our Save the Date. I decided to make something that was artwork and a card combined.

I love how it looks tied with simple twine around a white box.

Soon high resolution inkjet prints of these gift tags will be offered in my Etsy shop. I’m thinking packages of six.

Plus, I’m getting butterflies (literally) from this design contest, we just entered…more on that tomorrow!

Coachella 2011: Angus and Julia Stone

Two more days until I reunite with the crew and the decorating for Coachella officially begins! I have been able to paint for some exciting artists this time around and I am especially looking forward to seeing Angus and Julia Stone perform live.

I love the whimsy and charm of this photograph, that I found on the French blog, Le Hib (short for le Hiboo, “The Owl”). The brother/sister duo belts out enchanting lyrics with feeling.

When I heard this song…

I couldn’t help but think about which songs to play for our wedding.

Here is a peak at the artwork that I have created for this group!

Did I mention that similar to last year…I am working on 19 other paintings?!

For those of you not headed to the Coachella Fest, I promise lots of photos and backstage pics! Wish me luck out there…if I run into you, let’s hang out:)
